CONSERVATIVE TRANSPORT GROUP

A Special interest Group of the Conservative Party

The CTG was formed just after the 1992 General Election.It has organised fringe meetings at all the Conservative party conferences and a number of one day conferences on important transport matters of the time. The first was at the request of Roger Freeman on the subject of 'Rail Privatisation'.

Publications

The CTG produces 'Policy Papers' to which members contribute. We also produce a 'Newsletter' which is sent to members in February, May, July and December. Plus a Conference Special issue in September.

Visits

In the past the CTG has organised a variety of visits to transport related sites. These have included the Post Office underground railway, St. Pancras Hotel, the Channel Tunnel workings, the Eurostar train servicing depot, CENTRO, the Daventry International Rail Freight Terminal (DIRFT), the TVR factory, Hull docks, rail & tram vehicle manufacturers in Birmingham, Rolls Royce Aero Engines, Avonmouth Docks, Heathrow Airport, the west Midlands Metro and Black Country museum (so members could bring families), Manchester Tramways, Manchester, Luton and Birmingham airports, Luton Parkway Station, the Eurostar depot at North Pole, The Newcastle Metro Control Centre and a variety of other transport locations.
